Koyasan offers a beautiful atmosphere and incredible food, but the shared bathrooms got busy at peak times.

The Japanese-Style Deluxe Room with Private Bath offered a cozy environment, perfect for relaxing after exploring the area. The vegan dinner was beautifully arranged and quite satisfying, showcasing local cuisine.
The onsen is limited to a 4 PM to 9 PM window, which felt restrictive. The public bath had chlorine levels that were noticeably high, making me hesitant to use it beyond the first time. A curfew at 9 PM means you can’t leave the temple, which could crimp evening plans, especially if you’re interested in night cemetery tours that run later. Dinner timing options were slightly rigid, with only a narrow window for a meal.

Serene, serene, serene
The Japanese-Style Standard Room with Garden View was a tranquil oasis with amazing views of the garden, perfectly capturing the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics. I particularly enjoyed the delicious "Shojin Ryori" breakfast, which was expertly prepared and offered a genuine taste of vegetarian Buddhist cuisine. The public bath allowed me to unwind and relax in a serene atmosphere after a day of exploration.
would recommend 💗😊

Pure magic. Room was cozy, even if the futons felt like laying on the floor. Dinner in my room was tasty, that tofu spread was next level! Just wish the halls weren't so chilly at night.

The surroundings were wonderfully tranquil! The staff were genuinely welcoming, and the morning ceremony was a unique experience worth participating in.
The washrooms could be more conveniently located, especially at night.

missingWrote a review on Oct 30overpriced staypoor service
the overpriced stay did not live up to expectations, especially with the too-high chlorine levels in the public bath. it's a shame the monks were incredibly unaccommodating compared to my previous visit, I mean a complimentary gift would have really made a difference. one star off for service as I just couldn’t focus on the prayers with those cameras flashing.

Had an awesome stay in a cozy room with beautiful garden views. Loved the relaxing onsen and quiet lounge area to unwind in after a day of exploring. The only downside was that the shared bathrooms could get a bit busy, but it didn’t ruin our experience at all! 😊

excellent experience but shared bathroom inconvenience
I booked the Japanese-Style Superior Room, which offered a serene garden view that truly enhanced my stay. The room was spacious, cozy, and well-maintained, making it perfect for relaxation. Dinner served in my room was exceptional, with plenty of traditional dishes expertly prepared, showcasing the best of local cuisine.
The need to share a bathroom with other guests felt inconvenient, especially during late hours.
